Irrigation

Beavers launches HydroAudit, the first free step towards irrigation investment in Romania

Beavers Construction is launching HydroAudit, a free preliminary assessment service for farmers who want to invest in irrigation. We start with water, land, crops and budget, so that farmers can understand their own farm's situation and the steps needed before investing.

The idea came from the field, from the problems we encounter on projects and from conversations with farmers. Equipment is available. Quotes are easy to obtain. The challenge is to connect the water source, agriculture, infrastructure, permits and funding in a project that can be built and operated successfully.

Why we created HydroAudit

We have met equipment suppliers who know their products but do not understand agriculture. They can present a pump, a hose reel or a centre pivot, but cannot always explain how that equipment fits the farm, the water source and the investment as a whole.

We have met designers who do not know the site well enough and lack construction experience. Actual costs, agricultural operations and investment payback enter the discussion too late. Meanwhile, design work drags on, changes arise, and the farmer loses time and money.

Then there is the bureaucracy: different institutions, cumbersome procedures and long response times. Farmers end up coordinating all these parties themselves, without always knowing what depends on what or where to begin.

HydroAudit is the first step towards putting these questions in order. We want you to have a clear path, understand how the stages connect and know what needs checking before you spend.

Water and farm economics are the starting point

We begin by understanding where the water is and what we know about it. Where is the source in relation to the area you want to irrigate? What information is available about its seasonal availability? What conditions of use need checking? What would abstraction, conveyance and pumping involve?

We relate this information to the intended area, crops and soil. It helps us outline water demand and identify the additional data needed for a technical analysis.

We discuss money from the outset too. The investment includes infrastructure, energy, design, permits and construction, followed by operating costs once the system is commissioned. Farmers need to know how much they can invest, what irrigation will cost and under what conditions they can recover their investment.

What the farmer receives

Based on the available information and the discussion with the Beavers team, HydroAudit provides a written summary of the situation and a recommendation for moving forward.

  • The key issues and potential obstacles affecting the project.
  • Options worth exploring further.
  • Missing information and the checks required.
  • Recommended steps to continue the investment.

We use calculation and analysis tools to compare options when the data allows. The Beavers team reviews the conclusions and takes account of the limits of the information received. If an option presents problems, we say so directly.

How HydroAudit works

  1. Visit the HydroAudit page from the Beavers website and complete the initial form. Leave your contact details and some information about your farm and the investment you are considering. At this stage, you do not need an account or documents.
  2. We speak by phone. We understand your objective, clarify the situation and explain what information we need for the assessment.
  3. You receive an individual link to the detailed form. Open it using a code sent by email, without creating a password. Enter what you know and upload files if needed. Your information is saved as you go, so you can return before making the final submission.
  4. We review the information and discuss the next steps. If clarification is needed, we get back to you. You receive the assessment summary and a recommendation for moving forward.

We focus on the area you want to irrigate

We know a farm can have many parcels. At this stage, it is enough to identify the intended area: the locality, approximate surface area and location on a map. You can use a pin, a link, a KMZ or KML file, a plan, a screenshot or a description.

It is equally important to indicate any water sources you know of nearby. You know the location and can provide information that a map cannot show.

Information about crops and soil also helps, along with the system you have in mind: a hydrant network with hose reels, centre pivots or other options. If you have not yet chosen a system or do not have soil analyses, tell us. Provide what you know, and we identify what still needs checking.

You can upload PDFs, photographs and KML or KMZ files, up to 50 MB each. For larger files, we agree on another transfer method together. The information is collected in an individual project file, and its use is explained in the privacy notice.

The assessment is free

HydroAudit does not oblige you to buy equipment or continue the project with Beavers. We want this initial discussion and assessment to give you useful information for making a decision.

If you choose to proceed, studies, detailed sizing, design, permits and construction are agreed separately through a proposal tailored to the project. Beavers can coordinate these stages so that agriculture, infrastructure and budget are considered together.
